This marks her second singing performance at a Canucks game. Groff, who works at the Looking Glass Residence, sang the national anthem with her partner, Chris Clute, at the game saluting frontline workers at Rogers Arena in January 2021. Hear from her about the experience:
Q: How were you chosen to sing at the game?
A: Earlier in the week, the production coordinator for the Canucks game entertainment section reached out to me about performing. We had met back in January 2021 when my partner and I performed the Canadian anthem for the home opener, and at that time I told him if he ever needed a last minute singer, that I lived close by! Since it was Community Heroes Night, they were looking for a frontline worker who could sing, and I fit the bill.

Q: How did it compare to the last time you sang the national anthem there?
A: Back in January 2021, the arena was quiet and a little eerie, since no fans were allowed in at that time due to COVID guidelines. It felt a little less real because we were just singing to cameras across the arena, and it wasn't really until afterwards that we realized how many people were watching at home.
This time felt very real from the get-go. The energy was back in the building, you could hear the fans getting ready for the game, and you could just see the passion and excitement of everyone involved. I will say, that when they started to announce the big community heroes who were highlighted at the game, I did have to turn away because my nerves got the best of me. But it went wonderfully! I don't think I've ever sang the anthems that well, and I'm honestly just so grateful that the Vancouver Canucks continue to recognize the efforts of different groups of people throughout the year.
Q: What have your colleagues said about your performances?
A: Most are in disbelief that I was doing the anthems, but they are also extremely encouraging and excited for me. I got a lot of messages from current and past colleagues that left my heart feeling very full and put a big smile on my face.
