Volunteers have a positive impact on the lives of patients, families, visitors and staff at BC Children’s Hospital. As a volunteer, you can contribute to the hospital experiences of individuals and families while building new skills, exploring careers in health care, and gaining experience for future employment or educational pursuits.
Volunteers support many roles and activities, including:
- navigation and wayfinding
- recreation and aquatic therapy
- pet therapy
- inpatient and outpatient clinics support
- patient and family liaison
- special events
- Sibling Support Centre
- Family Library
- gift and thrift shops

We typically accept volunteers who are at least 16 years of age. Submit your application form online. Our team will contact you for an interview. The application and intake process can take several months due to the number of applications we receive.
We require a criminal record check before accepting a volunteer.
