You may need travel assistance to attend an appointment or to stay at our hospital. There are several programs offering transportation supports for families travelling from out of town for medical care.
Health Connections: Each BC health authority has a unique travel assistance program for residents of their region who need to travel within the province for out-of-town medical care.
- Check which health authority you live in and connect with your health authority directly for support
Hope Air: This national charity provides free air travel, hotel accommodation, ground transportation and meal vouchers for families and individuals in financial need who are travelling to hospital.

- Ask your family doctor or your medical team for a form to access support through TAP
BC Family Residence Program: Some families from outside Metro Vancouver may be eligible for travel and accommodation assistance during their child’s medical stay through this program.
Under this program, Variety provides accommodation assistance for families while a child or youth requires care at BC Children’s Hospital.
