What We Do
BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only dedicated pediatric hospital. We provide general and specialized health care for the most seriously ill and injured children and youth from across British Columbia and Yukon.
Our services
Our services span both inpatient and outpatient care. They include emergency medicine and critical care, surgery, cardiac care, cancer care, mental health services, rehabilitation and child development, and other specialty services.
Our hospital has over 3,000 dedicated staff and care providers who support approximately 270,000 visits annually from children and youth, and their families and caregivers.

Teaching and research
BC Children's Hospital Research Institute
As a teaching hospital, we play an integral part in educating professionals in many disciplines, who deliver all levels of care and contribute to a learning health system. Each year, more than 2,300 students learn and practice specialty care on our campus.
Our hospital has strong academic affiliations with the University of British Columbia and other academic institutions. There is a dedicated research institute on our campus. Our strong connections between clinical care and research are vital in advancing the delivery and standards of care we offer today and into the future.
BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute leads and collaborates on research studies across over 400 research teams. It supports a community of over 2,000 members to advance our understanding of child health conditions and treatments.
