Music Therapy
Music creates meaningful connections and opportunities for creative expression while reducing anxiety and pain.
Accredited music therapists at BC Children’s Hospital play an important role in enhancing the care offered to children and youth. As part of the care team, the music therapist meets with children and families to assess how music can support their unique health goals. Music therapists offer individual and group music therapy sessions for patients at the bedside, or in a dedicated music studio specifically designed for patients staying at the hospital to experience the joys of creating music.
Sessions may include:
- Songwriting
- Singing
- Listening to music
- Creating a music playlist
- Exploring or learning instruments
- Electronic composition and recording
- Music-assisted relaxation
- Procedural support
