Cardiology Referral
BC Children's Hospital’s Cardiology team provides expert care to children and youth living with a range of heart conditions, including congenital and acquired diseases.
Our services include prenatal diagnosis - fetal diagnosis while a person is pregnant - through to early adulthood care.
Referral overview
Cardiology has different referral forms and processes depending on the service. Please carefully follow the process for the service you need.
A cardiologist reviews and prioritizes all referrals. We only accept referrals from health-care providers, such as a family doctor, nurse practitioner or pediatrician.
We will call your patient only after we have made an appointment.
We require referrals for new patients and for patients who have not been seen by our team in more than six months.

Include the following information. We will not process incomplete forms.
- Patient demographic information
- Service(s) requested
- Reason for referral
- Any additional relevant information, such as completed tests or medical history

Once we have scheduled an appointment
A member of our booking team will contact the referring doctor's office and/or the patient only when we have an available appointment date and time.

Emergency or inpatient transfers, and urgent outpatient referrals
For inpatient transfers or life-threatening situations, contact the cardiology fellow on call through the hospital switchboard at 604-875-2161.
