Gait and Motion Analysis Referral
Neurologists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, orthopedic surgeons, orthotists, pediatricians, physiatrists and physiotherapists typically make referrals for gait analysis.
Please contact the Motion Lab if you are uncertain about making a referral. We accept both inpatient and outpatient referrals. They follow the same referral process.
The following criteria are required for a child or youth's referral:
- Ability to walk, with or without aids
- Ability to cooperate for two hours. Interpreter services are available
- Children or youth from five to eighteen years of age. Please contact the Motion Lab if you have questions about younger referrals
Currently, only orthopedic surgeons at BC Children's Hospital make referrals for Return-to-Sport assessments. Please contact the Motion Lab if you have questions about this service.
