Spinal Cord Referral
The Spinal Cord Clinic serves children and youth from birth to the age of 18 who have a disorder of the spinal cord, either due to genetic or traumatic causes.
The Spinal Cord Clinic mainly offers outpatient consultations. We offer virtual consultations to help care for patients who cannot travel to Vancouver for assessment and treatment.
Referral overview
We generally accept referrals from doctors after they confirm a diagnosis of spinal cord injury. We screen each referral to ensure it meets eligibility criteria. To evaluate whether the patient needs to access care at our clinic, we generally require neuroimaging and a neurological assessment.
Please note: we do not provide care for chronic back pain, spine deformities or spina bifida occulta.

Complete a form
Complete the referral form (PDF), attaching any previous relevant tests, reports and consultations. Please do not send clinical photographs; they will not come through clearly.

Send the referral
Fax or email completed referral forms to 604-875-2553 or sccbookingclerk@cw.bc.ca.

Post referral
Once we receive the referral, we will triage it.

Appointment
We will contact patients, their families or caregivers directly to book an appointment approximately one month before the appointment date.
