Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
We provide surgical care for infants, children and youth with congenital and acquired heart diseases, such as:
- Congenital (structural) heart diseases, including atrial and ventricular septal defects or hypoplastic left heart
- Acquired heart diseases, including rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathies or Kawasaki disease
- Conditions requiring heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices
We also provide surgical care for some children with lung tumours, chest wall differences, airway disorders and traumatic injuries.
Referral information
Patients need a referral from a physician to access this service.
Appointment details
We have interpreter services. Please let us know in advance if you would like an interpreter for your appointment.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please call the clinic as soon as possible so we can reschedule for another date.
All children undergoing cardiovascular surgery receive medical follow-up by members of the cardiovascular surgery team to ensure optimal recovery and to assess long-term outcomes.
