Neurosurgery

The neurosurgery team provides complete neurosurgical care for children and youth with disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, which may include:
- Congenital malformations (e.g. spina bifida or hydrocephalus)
- Epilepsy surgery (refractory seizure disorder)
- Spasticity
- Deformities and abnormal growth of the skull (e.g. cranial synostosis)
- Trauma to the head and spinal cord
- Tumours of the brain, spinal cord or nerves (malignant and benign)
- Stroke or bleeding into the brain, and other brain injuries
- Infections
- Cerebral vascular disease
We also offer subspecialty clinics, which include:
- Spinal Cord Clinic
- Epilepsy Clinic
- Craniosynostosis Clinic
Referral information

Appointment details
When you arrive, please check in at the reception desk. The medical office assistant will register you in the electronic system so your team knows you have arrived.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please call 604-875-2094 to reschedule as soon as possible.
We have interpreter services. Please let us know in advance if you would like an interpreter.
If your child has been in contact with any infectious diseases (such as chicken pox or measles) or has been diagnosed with any antibiotic-resistant organism (MRSA), please let us know before your appointment, as we might need to reschedule it.

Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We advocate for and provide support to Indigenous patients and families who are visiting the hospital.
