General Pediatrics Referral
We offer general physical examinations and care to children and youth from birth through to 18 years of age.
We provide:
- Care for children with complex medical and psychosocial problems
- Assessment and management of children and youth with chronic illnesses, such as asthma and hypotonia
- Developmental and behavioural assessment and guidance
- Parent education, support and guidance
- Coordination with other health care professionals, as needed

We accept referrals from doctors or nurse practitioners.
Referral steps

Write a referral
Please include the following in your referral letter:
- Patient and caregiver demographic information
- Referring provider name and contact information
- Reason for referral
- Relevant past medical history
- Relevant documentation/imaging/reports etc.
- Interpreter required (Y/N; if Y, specify language)

Send the referral
Fax your completed referral letter to: 604-875-3021.
BC Children’s Hospital clinics can send their referral via PowerChart.

Review of referral
We triage referrals in the order we receive them. We will contact you when we have triaged the referral and made a decision.

Post referral
There is no action required for patients/families or providers after submitting a referral. Clinic staff will contact families directly to book an appointment.
