Use of Substances
It is the health system's responsibility to provide a safe environment and care for all patients and health-care workers.
At BC Children's Hospital, we honour the value and dignity of all individuals. We aim to treat others with kindness and respect.
While substance use (vaping, alcohol and unregulated/illegal substances) is not permitted anywhere on our sites, we care for and support people who use substances who are in our care. Please ask your health-care worker or provider how we may support your wellness.
Our goal is to work together to provide people with the care they need in an environment that is safe for everyone.
We are currently reviewing and updating our policies to ensure staff safety and to ensure we continue to provide care and support in a trauma-informed, anti-racist environment, free from discrimination and stigmatization.
